"Ellicott City and Columbia named one of the nation's top places for families."

I continue to visit neighborhoods to listen to the residents of Ellicott City, Elkridge, and Hanover. What is important to you in local government? Are you satisfied with your quality of life in Howard County? What can we do better? I want to hear from you. Send me your thoughts and ideas through the “contact us” link in the menu above.

As the County Council member for District One, two of my most important goals are maintaining the fiscal strength of Howard County, and keeping our Howard County schools strong.

First and foremost, I believe that our local government must be fiscally responsible and accountable to the citizens of Howard County. I comb the county budget every year for ways to reduce spending and am one of only two council members to have proposed a tax decrease by cutting unnecessary expenses, and to have voted down a pay increase. For me, fiscal responsibility is not just a campaign slogan. As I have clearly demonstrated over the past four years,  I will not waste your tax dollars with unnecessary spending.

Second, it is critical that our school system remain among the best in the nation, not only because it benefits our children, but because it attracts new employers, creates jobs, and keeps our real estate values high. My past experience on the Howard County Board of Education has proven invaluable when making effective economic decisions regarding the Howard County Public School System.

Howard County can have sound fiscal policies and maintain a top notch school system. I am uniquely qualified, and strongly committed, to maintaining a fiscally responsible budget and keeping our public schools on top.

A vote for Watson on November 2nd is a vote for fiscal responsibility and strong Howard County public schools.
